1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Cortex ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Cortex is a screen time management application that helps users develop healthier smartphone habits through mindful interventions, breathing exercises, and app usage monitoring. The app uses Apple's Screen Time framework to provide its core functionality.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Cortex. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

4. Account

You may sign in using Sign In with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and account. Cortex stores all data locally on your device.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

• Free features: Cortex offers core functionality at no cost.
• Cortex Premium: Additional features are available through auto-renewable subscriptions (monthly, quarterly, or yearly plans).
• Billing: All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. By subscribing, you agree to Apple's payment terms.
• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Cancellation: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions).
• Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy.
• Price changes: We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing. Any price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing period, and you will be notified in advance.

6. Screen Time Permissions

Cortex requires Screen Time (Family Controls) authorization to function. By granting this permission, you allow the app to:

• Monitor app usage on your device
• Display shield overlays on selected apps
• Set app usage schedules and limits

You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device's Settings. Revoking permissions will disable the app's core functionality.

7. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the app for its intended purpose of managing screen time
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, or distribute the app
• Not use the app to monitor or restrict another person's device without their consent

8. Disclaimers

• Cortex is not a medical device, therapy, or clinical treatment for screen addiction or any mental health condition.
• The app is intended as a self-improvement tool and should not replace professional medical or psychological advice.
• App blocking and shield functionality depends on Apple's Screen Time framework and may be affected by iOS updates or system changes.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cortex and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data due to device issues
• Inability to access apps due to blocking features
• Any interruption of service

10. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and branding associated with Cortex are the intellectual property of the developer. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app without prior written consent.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the app at our discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the app.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Argentina, without regard to conflict of law principles.
